BUST AUGMENTATION

Breast size is an essential part of feeling self-confident, healthy, and feminine. If you are unhappy with your breast size, and having a beautiful and appealing breast is just a dream for you, then relieve yourself as Bust Augmentation is a popular procedure across the globe that can turn your dream into reality. It is the best way to enhance breast symmetry, increase breast volume, and restore the appearance of breasts.

WHAT IS BUST AUGMENTATION?

Bust Augmentation, Augmentation Mammoplasty, or Breast Enlargement treatment is a surgical procedure that aims to increase the shape, size, or fullness of the breast.

In this procedure, the surgeon places saline, silicone, or alternative composite breast implants under the chest muscles or breast tissue.

WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR BUST AUGMENTATION SURGERY?

  • Women who are unhappy with naturally underdeveloped breasts
  • Women having asymmetrically shaped breasts
  • Women who have lost breast shape and volume following pregnancy or drastic weight loss

TYPES OF IMPLANTS USED IN BUST AUGMENTATION

Silicone gel-filled implants: This kind of implants consist of a silicone outer shell that is filled with a silicone gel. If a silicone gel-filled implant leaks, the gel will either stay in the shell or escape into the breast implant pocket.

Patients choosing this type of implant should visit the doctor for regular checks compared with those on saline solution implants. An ultrasound or MRI scan is used to check the condition of the implants. Although, there are numerous women say that the silicone gel-filled implants feel more like the real breasts than saline, they pose more of the risk if they leak.

Saline Implants: This type of implants are filled with sterile saline solution, like salt water, which is held within an elastic silicone shell. Saline implants can be filled with different amounts of saline solution, which affects the firmness, feel, and shape of the breast.

If a saline implant leaks, the solution will get absorbed and expelled by the body automatically.

Alternative composite implants: These types of implants are filled with polypropylene string, soy oil, or some other material.

Saline breast implants are not in use anymore. For most bust augmentation procedures, Dr. Ashutosh recommends silicone gel implants due to the following reasons:

  • Silicone gel implants are softer and give a more natural feel compared to saline implants.
  • Saline is heavier than silicone, so the probability of implant bottoming out is higher in saline gel implants.
  • Silicone gel implants do not have the problem of distortion from implant rotation and have long term durability.

BREAST ENLARGEMENT TREATMENT PROCEDURE

Before procedure

  • The surgeon will evaluate the general health status and previous surgical history of the patient.
  • The patient must inform the surgeon about the past and present Medical history and drug allergies if any.
  • The patient must share with the patient about the family history of breast cancer.
  • The surgeon examines the breasts, discusses the likely outcomes of breast lift surgery, and any risks or potential complications involved if any.
  • The patient is advised to adjust the current medications, and stop a few medications like aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • The patient is advised to stop smoking a few months before the planned surgery.

During Procedure

Bust augmentation surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and the procedure takes 1-2 hours.

1. Incision: Bust augmentation procedure can be achieved through a variety of incision patterns and techniques. The exact technique used will vary, the surgeon will make an incision either under your breasts, in the axilla (underarms), or around your nipples, depending on your body anatomy type of implant, etc. The common type of incisions are:

  • Inframammary: It is a small incision made in the inframammary fold (crease underneath the breast); this type of incision allows a cosmetic surgeon to place larger gummy bears or silicone implants with precision.
  • Periareolar: The type of incision is made around the outer edge of the areola.
  • Trans-axillary: Trans-axillary is a small incision made within the armpit, through which the surgeon places the breast implant using a camera and specialized instruments. In this, there is a scar in the armpit.
  • Transumbilical: This technique includes an incision just above the belly button. Implants are inserted through this incision and brought up to the breast, the advantage being there is no scars on the breast itself.

2. Implant placement: The surgeon will put the breast implant into a pocket above or below the chest muscle (pectoralis major muscle):

  • Sub glandular: The breast implant is placed in the space between the mammary gland (breast tissue) and the pectoralis (major muscle of the chest). It gives good results.
  • Sub fascial: The breast implant is emplaced beneath the fascia of the pectoralis, a major muscle of the chest.
  • Subpectoral: In this procedure of implant placement, the surgeon releases the inferior muscular attachment, and then the breast implant is placed beneath the pectoralis major muscle.
  • Submuscular: The breast implant is placed beneath the pectoralis major muscle; this implantation approach affects maximal coverage of the breast implants.

3. Closing the incisions: After the implant is kept in place, the incisions are closed. Surgical tapes or sutures may be used to close the skin. Some incision lines may be concealed in the natural breast contours. Over time, the incision lines will fade.

4. Fat Grafting: Fat grafting, also called the autologous fat transfer and is emerging as the new breast reconstruction technique. Infat grafting surgery, fat tissue is removed from some other parts of your body – usually from your thighs, belly, & buttocks — by liposuction. The tissue is then processed into liquid & injected into breast area to reconstruct the breast.Depending on the breast size you would like for your reconstructed breast to be, you might have to go for multiple fat grafting procedures that are done over the period of months.

For women who desire an only mild increase in the size of their breasts (1 cup size increase) and don’t want to opt for implants, fat grafting is an appealing option. Instead of using implants, the fat grafting procedure uses the body’s own fat to augment the size of the breasts. Fat is taken from tummy, hips, or thighs and injected into the breasts for augmenting them. Bust augmentation using fat grafting is a real great deal since it gives 100% natural look and feel. Bust augmentation through fat grafting offers great flexibility as the location and amount of fat can be customized according to a patient’s wants and needs.

The advantages of fat grafting surgery are:

  • It uses your own body’s tissue instead of the implant.
  • Fat is finally removed from the area where you do not want it.
  • Many women report that their fat-graft-reconstructed breastshave some sensation & feels soft, much like any other unreconstructed breasts.

AFTER BUST AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE

  • After the surgery procedure, the patient is shifted to the recovery room and kept under observation until the vitals stabilize.
  • The breasts of the patient will be covered with dressing gauze.
  • The patient may have drainage tubes, which will be removed after a few days of the surgery.
  • The patient may feel soreness for the first week.
  • The patient is advised to limit strenuous exercise for about 2-4 weeks.
  • Scars of bust augmentation procedure heal after 6-weeks of the surgery and fade within several months.
  • The patient is asked to wear a supportive surgical bra or sports bra for a few weeks after the bust augmentation procedure.
  • For the silicone implants, it is recommended that patients must undergo periodic monitoring to screen for ruptures.
